What Is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners to gradually shift your teeth into position. Each aligner applies gentle, controlled pressure to specific teeth. You wear each set for about one to two weeks. Then you move to the next tray in the series. Over time, your teeth move toward their final position.
The aligners are smooth, BPA-free plastic. They fit snugly over your teeth. Most people around you won’t know you’re wearing them. You remove them to eat, drink, and brush, then put them back in. That’s the entire routine.
What Invisalign® Can Treat
Dr. Matouk uses Invisalign® to address a wide range of alignment issues, including:
- Crowded teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbites and underbites
- Crossbites and open bites
- Mildly to moderately rotated teeth
- General tooth spacing issues
Not every case suits clear aligners. Some complex bite problems require traditional orthodontics. Dr. Matouk evaluates your teeth, bite, and jaw relationship thoroughly before recommending Invisalign®. She recommends it only when it genuinely fits your situation.
Benefits of Choosing Invisalign®
Here are some noticeable benefits of Invisalign® treatment:
Nearly Invisible
The aligners are clear. Most patients report that coworkers, friends, and family don’t notice them at all. This matters whether you work in a professional environment, meet people frequently, or simply prefer to keep your treatment private.
Removable
Take the aligners out before meals. Eat whatever you want. No food restrictions. No navigating around brackets. Put them back in when you’re done.
Easier Oral Hygiene
Brush and floss exactly as you normally would. Remove the aligner, clean your teeth, and put it back. No floss threaders, bracket-cleaning brushes, or extra steps.
Comfortable
Smooth plastic means no sharp edges cutting your cheeks or lips. New aligners cause mild pressure for the first day or two. This is normal and indicates the aligners are working. It fades quickly.
Combines Well with Whitening
Many patients whiten their teeth during or after Invisalign® treatment. Dr. Matouk coordinates timing so that both treatments complement each other.
Invisalign® Treatment at Matouk Family Dentistry
Our practice currently offers a free Invisalign® consultation. Dr. Matouk examines your teeth and bite. She takes photos and uses advanced digital imaging to assess your alignment in detail. You leave with a clear picture of whether Invisalign® suits your case.
Dr. Matouk uses digital scanning technology to map your teeth precisely. She creates a customized treatment plan that shows the projected movement of your teeth from start to finish. You see your expected outcome before a single aligner arrives.
Invisalign® manufactures your aligners based on Dr. Matouk’s precise digital scans. Once treatment begins, you’ll progress through your series of aligners according to Dr. Matouk’s instructions. You wear each aligner for 20 to 22 hours per day and remove them to eat and drink anything other than water.
Dr. Matouk schedules regular check-in appointments throughout your treatment. She monitors your progress at each visit. She confirms your teeth are tracking correctly and adjusts the plan if needed. You never move through treatment without oversight.
When your final aligner is complete, Dr. Matouk fits you with a retainer. Retainers hold your teeth in their new positions while the surrounding bone stabilizes. Skipping the retainer is the most common reason teeth shift back after alignment treatment.
Ideal Candidates for Invisalign®
Invisalign® works best for teens and adults who can wear their aligners consistently for 20 to 22 hours per day. Consistent wear is essential for achieving the desired results. Remove them for extended periods and progress stalls.
Dr. Matouk addresses this honestly during your consultation. If your lifestyle or case doesn’t suit Invisalign®, she tells you directly. She may recommend an alternative approach that delivers better results for your specific situation.
Invisalign® suits mild to moderate orthodontic cases well. Severe bite problems or significant jaw issues may require traditional braces or a specialist referral. Dr. Matouk evaluates this at your consultation and gives you a straightforward answer.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does Invisalign® treatment take?
Treatment length depends on the complexity of your case. Minor alignment issues may be resolved in a few months. More involved cases can take 12 to 18 months. Dr. Matouk gives you a specific timeline at your consultation.
Does Invisalign® hurt?
New aligners cause mild pressure for one to two days. This means the tray is working. It fades quickly. Most patients find Invisalign® significantly more comfortable than traditional braces.
Can I drink coffee with my aligners in?
No. Remove aligners before drinking anything other than water. Hot or colored liquids can warp the plastic or stain the trays. Put them back in after you’re done.
What happens if I lose an aligner?
Call the office right away. Dr. Matouk will tell you whether to use your old tray, go to the next tray, or get a new tray, depending on where you are in the treatment process.
